#3 Wet n Wild Lipstick in 521A

Wow, I've been gone forever! But this was not my will, but rather the effect of a full schedule. ANYWAYS...

I'd always had a sort of disdain for Wet n Wild's products. First off is the name - is that supposed to advertise the makeup or the fun you'll have while wearing it? Second is the price. I'm all for low priced lipstick, but two dollar stuff is pretty cheap, and the quality sounds low. Combined with the not very nice packaging, I wasn't intending to get anything by Wet n Wild. Somehow, one of these ended up in my possession, and I'm not totally sure why. Anyways, this was my first bright lipstick ever that I got when I was about 14.

The packaging on this product is abysmal. First off, it doesn't screw down all the way (I HATE that) so I'm always nicking the too and it's hard to do it in a car or airplane. Second, the top is clear plastic. And originally, before I had a lipstick with a clear cap, it didn't sound so bad. But when I got it, I realized how bad it was. It looks cheap, and there's a big risk of the cap just splitting. Though it means you can see the color, there are very few lipsticks that can pull off a clear cap without looking like terrible quality. It bothers me way more than I thought it would. So that's a big negative point.

Now we get to the color. It's a bright pink that could be described as fuchsia. What I do like is that as fgyou can see in the picture, there is definitely a shimmer glow to the lipstick. Even more awesome, that dimension definitely translates to the lips. They don't look sparkly, but just more...dimensional, I guess? It's very cool. Thumbs up on the color and full pigmentation.

Now we get to the formula. The real make it or break it of all cosmetic products. And the breakdown is: I've seen worse. But it still is not a great formula. It has the cons of a moisturizing lipstick - doesn't last long, can be too shiny, comes off on everything, but it doesn't actually moisturize. It isn't drying, but for real moisture put on a real balm and glug some water. It's thin, which is pretty nice, but as you can see in the pictures, talking rubs away the thin formula quickly.

Bare lips

Two layers

I put this lipstick on in the morning, with a balm underneath. It doesn't feel like anything special, but the bullet felt ever so slightly harder than other ones. I don't have to push for pigmentation, but it's not a soft lipstick. For the rest of the day, with several reapplications, it faded, then was reapplied, then faded and reapplied again. Throughout this process, I didn't put on the balm again, and my lips didn't dry up in the sun either. But I did have to reapply. Overall, I would say this is a fine lipstick when you want to go out on an errand or shop or go to a carnival or whatever, and it's socially acceptable to put on makeup at random points in the other day. I wouldn't recommend this for class or work, where you talk and eat with rarely a chance to go reapply privately.

#2 Labello in Soft Rose

Ah, Labello. I don't think it's even sold in the U.S. I believe it's German, in fact. It's basically Nivea fir those countries that don't have Nivea. I got all my Labellos in Israel. Before reading my review, keep in mind that when someone is talking about Labello, they are usually talking about the Classic tube. This particular review is for Soft Rose.

The packaging for this product is pretty simple. Which is nice, especially considering that it's a lip balm, and shouldn't really put on any airs, as designer balms are likely to do. The packaging is the some color as the balm, but I don't consider this to be a tinted balm, because the only way it will deposit any color is if your lips are dead white, and even then it will be a slight hint. Originally, the top of this balm was domed, but I've used it enough that the top was flat.

Bare lips

I tested out this lip balm when working outside as a camp counselor (how else is a seventeen year old able to get her lip products?) and my lips weren't crazy chapped, but they were definitely quite dry. Usually I would exfoliate a bit first, but that morning I was in a rush. I put it on at approximately 9.30, and the formula felt quite soothing and balmy, and slightly waxy.
2 laters of balm

After eating about 45 minutes later, the outside of my lips were soft, but the inside of my lips were dry, wrinkled and felt very dehydrated. This time, when I reapplied the outside of my lips still felt soft but the inside felt dry and wrinkled with a layer of wax on top. By now, my lips felt quite uncomfortable so I decided to exfoliate them and reapply. An hour later, my lips felt balmy, but no softer.

I should note that this isn't the first time I used this balm, so it had definitely been pushed down which may have helped it become waxier, and it was hot enough to melt the balm a little bit.

Overall, this is a handy lip balm. I don't hate it. I won't be using it to hydrate my lips, because it doesn't seem to do that. But it would be a good base for a tacky lipstick or to thin out an intense color. I wouldn't go out looking for it, because there are so many other lip balm options, but if you already have it or come across it, it's a fine base - not a rehydration.

#1 Revlon Lip Butter in Sorbet

So yesterday I bought three more lippies - two lipsticks, and what I call a tinted balm, also known as a lip butter. This is the third one that I've ever bought (Peach Parfait being the one  I gave to my sister because she loved it and I didn't. Ugh glitter.) This lip butter is called Sorbet.

I'm not going to say that all the lip butters have the same texture and longevity, because they don't. More intense colors last longer and glittery ones feel grittier. Such is the way of the world.

Anyways. This is an awesome lippie. It's the color of raspberry sorbet (hence the name) and the formula is amazing. As is the packaging. Let's start there.

The packaging is adorable. I'm sure all of you have seen the quilted design, and it's so classy and simple and unique. I love the clear top and colored case as well. It's easy to pull the top off and put it back on.

The formula is really interesting. It's very silky, and goes on your lips in a thin layer but has awesome color payoff. Another key thing: I hate glitter. I hate how weird it looks on your lips, like it was just spread on top of your lipstick, and I hate the gritty feeling. So when I went into the beauty section of Walgreens, I was determined not to get a glittery one. It didn't look like it had any, and when I applied it I found that it doesn't have glitter: it has sparkle! It isn't gritty and all and since sparkle is so small it isn't funny looking, it just adds a sort of iridescent sheen in some lights so it's gorgeous.

Like I said, it's the color of raspberry sorbet. When I first put it on, it was sorta shiny (like a balm) but then it sorta lost the shine (I was in the sun) and took on a color that looked exactly like I had been eating - can you guess - raspberry sorbet.

Bare lips

One coat

After about three hours, the color was still on the outside of my lips, but had faded from inner part of my lips, which makes sense, as I am talking to people all day, so the color goes faster.

But I think I can say that the color lasts for about 3-4 hours, but vanishes when you're eating. Fortunately, touch ups are not at all a problem, as 1) you do not at all need a mirror to apply this, and 2) it definitely moisturizes, so you want to keep putting it on. It isn't major moisture, but just enough, unless you're crazy dehydrated. As far as I can tell, it leaves no stain at all.

Lipstick Collector, First Report

Hey everybody! Welcome to my blog. As you may have guessed by the title, I am a lipstick collector. To be more accurate, I would say I am a lip PRODUCT collector, to include lip balms, lip stain, tinted balms, lip gloss and lipstick. And any other lip cosmetic/skin care thing I may pick up. I'm told there is a name for my condition (thanks?) but seeing as nobody has been able to think of a realistic sounding name for it, I assume that it is fascination and love rather than weirdness that drives me to keep collecting.

As of today, I have 82 lip products. Did I mention I've been collecting for four years? I actually do use a lot of them. Definitely not all of them - sometimes it looks pretty but the texture is weird, or I order it and the color is off. But I keep collecting. Here's a picture of my collection, sorted into piles of lip balm, tinted balm, lip stain, lip gloss, and of course, lipstick.
I can actually list how and where I got all of these.

ANYWAYS, so what am I doing here? Well, I've always liked blogging, I've always liked my collection. So, as the lipstick collector, I've decided to blog about the lip products I own, and of course, the ones I will get later. Hopefully one day someone will see my blog and if you want me to review a certain product, just comment!

Oh, one more thing. I mostly have lip products, but there are a few non lip things in there that I'll review as well. Like my mascara or whatever. Anyways: Onwards and Upwards. Happy collecting!
